Abstract
Modern product design processes are characterized by a high level of complexity
of the product in scope. The complexity is caused by changing market
demands and the availability of new technologies. To face this complexity, the
requirements have to be recorded and structured. Within this paper, the approaches
for structuring requirements during the product design process are
presented and evaluated. Key criteria for the evaluation are the depiction of
the interdependencies between the requirements, their dynamics/uncertainty
and suggestibility. All presented approaches show deficiencies concerning these
criteria. Based on these findings, new structuration methods for requirements have to be developed to enable a requirement-driven product development
process.
